GSLV Mk III-D2 - Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III

Satellite launched: 3423-kg GSAT-29 satellite

Features of GSLV

  1. GSLV Mk III is a three-stage heavy lift launch vehicle.
  2. Two massive boosters with solid propellant constitute the first stage, the core with liquid propellant form the second stage and the cryogenic engine completes the final stage.

Features of GSAT-29

  1. GSAT-29 is a multiband, multi-beam communication satellite, intended to serve as test bed for several new and critical technologies.
  2. Its Ku-band and Ka-band payloads are configured to cater to the communication requirements of users including those from remote areas especially from Jammu & Kashmir and North-Eastern regions of India.

Note: India has achieved significant milestone with this heaviest launcher lifting off the heaviest satellite from the Indian soil. Chandrayaan-2 and Gaganyaan missions will be launched by this heavy-lifter.


Operation Greens

Aim of Operation Greens: to stabilize the supply of Tomato, Onion and Potato(TOP) crops and to ensure availability of TOP crops throughout the country round the year without price volatility.

Outlay: Rs 500 crores

The strategy

  1. Short term Price Stabilisation Measures
    • NAFED will be the Nodal Agency to implement price stabilisation measures. MoFPI will provide 50% of the subsidy on the following two components:
      • Transportation of Tomato Onion Potato(TOP) Crops from production to storage;
      • Hiring of appropriate storage facilities for TOP Crops;
  2. Long Term Integrated value chain development projects
    • Capacity Building of FPOs & their consortium
    • Quality production
    • Post-harvest processing facilities
    • Agri-Logistics
    • Marketing / Consumption Points
    • Creation and Management of e-platform for demand and supply management of TOP Crops.

PAiSA - Portal for Affordable Credit and Interest Subvention Access

It is a centralized electronic platform for processing interest subvention on bank loans to beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) launched by the Central Govt.

The web platform has been designed and developed by Allahabad Bank which is the Nodal bank.

All 35 states / UTs & all scheduled commercial banks, RRBs and Cooperative Banks are expected to be on board the PAiSA portal the year end.
